COLOR additive contains iodine and other elements, one of which is the production of pink pigments in the soft tissues of corals.
The elements act as both antioxidant and oxidizing agents within the soft tissues and mucus of corals, thus reducing the risk of bleaching.
In reef aquariums these elements are quickly deficient because of their oxidizing capacity and their reactivity in contact with organic matter. Iodine and bromine are linked to pink chromoproteins.
